Robert Ahlrichs, 84, died Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Friday morning at the S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, rural Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello with Military Honors.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 11:00 at the church.  Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Bob and his family into their care.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Monticello Ambulance Service or Jones Regional Medical Center.

Surviving is his wife Linda, 2 sons, Bob Jr. (Barb) Ahlrichs, Rod (Cheri) Ahlrichs, 2 stepchildren Harlan (Gayle), DeMean Jr., Valerie (Brandon) Boelman, 12 grandchildren his sister Judy Stammeyer, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Ahlrichs.   He was preceded by his parents and a brother Donald.

Robert Jerald Ahlrichs was born in Monticello, Iowa on April 21, 1941, the son of Henry and Gertrude Hinkel Ahlrichs.

Bob graduated from the Monticello Community schools in 1959.  He served in the United States Army in from 1961 until 1964. After his return from service, Bob was employed as a mechanic at Freese Motors before starting his own business, Bob's Auto and Truck Repair in Monticello.  Bob married Linda Chaplin De Mean on September 8, 1989, at St. Lukes Methodist Church in Monticello.    Bob later was an owner/operator of a semi hauling grain in the area.  In retirement George Maxwell talked Bob in to hauling grain for him several more years.   Bob loved his Ford Cars and going fast.
