Robert Beitz age 60, died Thursday October 8, 2020 at his home following a sudden illness.

Private family services will be held on Friday October 30, 2020 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.  Interment will be in the Hopkinton Cemetery.   Public visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 until 7 at the Goettsch Funeral Home. Mask's must be worn and fitted properly over the nose and mouth at all times to enter the funeral home.  Social distancing needs to be practiced as well.

Surviving is his wife, Sarah, 2 children, Dan (Shawna) Beitz, Stephanie (Curtis) Knapp, 4 grandchildren, Nathan and Tyler Beitz, Shaylynn and Caleb Knapp, his siblings, Carmela (Randy) Feldmann, Debra (Chris) Hoyme James (Ronna)Beitz and aunts and uncles, Geraldine Bley, Carol Beitz, Gordon Keith, Mary Utley, Stephen and Georgia Haynes.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert William Beitz was born October 8, 1960 in Monticello.  He was the son of Galen and Eleanor Haynes, Beitz.   Bob graduated from the Maquoketa Valley Schools in 1979.  Bob married Sarah Hartman on June 9, 1979 at the Hopkinton Methodist Church.  Bob loved his career choice of farming.   He loved raising Show Pigs and tending to his beef cows.  He as proud that Dan and Stephanie each had 5 Grand Champions at the Delaware County Fair and numerous Reserve Grand-Champions.   The Reserve Grand Champion FFA Derby Hog in 2007 at the Iowa State Fair was farrowed out of Bob's last group of sows . When he wasn't farming, he enjoyed cutting wood, hunting deer, turkeys, pheasants, mushrooms and trapping. He enjoyed traveling and Italy was his favorite trip. He was an avid fan of the Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Cubs, and Iowa Wrestling.
