Robert “Bob” Rink, 90, died Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Accura Health Care, in Cascade, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 Thursday morning, July 30, 2026, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:30 at the church. Fr. Anthony Kruse and Deacon Ed Goldsmith will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Robert and his family into their care.

Bob is survived by a nephew Rick (Kathy) Evers, nieces, Patty (Fred) Timmerman, Cindy (Dave) Weber, Tammy (Ryan) Henneberry, Mindy (Junior Socito) Blackshear, and Barb Bacon, and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, his wife Linda his siblings, and their spouses Richard (Jean) Rink, Tom (Jan) Rink, Judy (Dick)Evers, niece, Cathy (Kenny) Smith, nephews Patrick “Butch” (Ellen) Rink, and Kene Bacon and his in-laws Jackie and Ernie Reth.

Robert Jacob Rink was born in rural Jones County on August 3, 1935, to William and Maxine Kraus Rink. He attended school at St. Martins Catholic School in Cascade. He started his working life farming; in 1953 he moved to Monticello where he spent the next 50 years and 1 day at Energy Manufacturing first as a welder and then he was in management. He retired in 2004.

Bob and Linda Lou Reth were married on October 20, 1979, at the First Lutheran Church, Manchester after 4 whirlwind months of dating. Bob built his A frame house on Lake Delhi and kept it for 28 years enjoying boating and snowmobiling.

He was active in the community, belonging to the J.C.s, the Monticello Fire Department for 16 years, was the President of the Monticello Conservation League for 2 terms and was the secretary for 25 years.

He and Linda often traveled, especially to Branson, Mo. He was talented in woodworking, and he and Linda often did crafts to sell and pass out at family Christmas as treasured gifts. He will forever be famous for planning family Christmas and serving banana splits. He was a very important, admired and beloved figure to his nieces and nephews.

Bob’s family would like to thank the amazing staff at Accura in Cascade, Above and Beyond Homecare and Hospice, and the Monticello Ambulance Service for their exceptional care over the last few months and years.
