Rodney Eugene Merritt, 52, died Friday December 7, 2018 at home, following a brief illness.

Private services for the family will be held at a later date and burial will take place in Jordan's Grove Cemetery, Central City.

Rodney was born on July 13, 1966 in Anamosa, the son of Robert and Shirley (Taylor) Merritt. He attended Anamosa Schools. He was self-employed as a carpenter. He enjoyed riding around the countryside in his truck, and visiting family and friends.

He is survived by his father Robert, Anamosa, sisters Vicki Mull, Monticello, Mary (Jason) Franks, Anamosa, and Tanya (Tim) Kruger, Anamosa, several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his mother Shirley in 2017 and his grandparents.
