Sandra Davis of Martelle, Passed away peacefully at the age of 81 with her daughter by her side.
A Remembrance service will be held the morning of Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa with visitation from 9-11. Following the service, a celebration of life luncheon will be held at Grace Christian Fellowship at 23456 Co. Rd. E34, Anamosa. A private family internment will follow at Norwich Cemetery in Martelle.
Sandra Mae Miller was born September 1, 1943, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids to James and Zella (Armstrong) Miller. Sandra graduated from the Martelle High School in 1961 and continued her education at Cedar Rapids Business College. She worked at the bank in Martelle during college which is where she met Ronald. The were married on May 25, 1964 at Martelle Christian Church. She worked for AT&T in Cedar Rapids before transferring to her forever job at the Martelle Telephone Cooperative where she retired after 40 years. She also worked briefly at Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon.
She was a member of the Martelle Christian Church and then Grace Fellowship where she played piano and organ. Sandra was very active in her community. She served on the Martelle city council as the water commissioner. She was active in the Century Club, Ladies Club, Ladies Aid, the Federated Women's Club, the Martelle Alumni Association, and the Senior Center. She dabbled in acting with the Starlighters, was an avid Scrabble player, enjoyed Bible study, and volunteered at the Jones Regional Hospital.
Sandra is survived by daughter , Natalie (Alan) Zaehringer of Swisher, 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily and Alex, A great-granddaughter Avery, and 2 sisters, Janis (Gary) Smith of Martelle and Ruth Ann Miller of Anamosa, 2 honorary children, Lora Noya Ruiz and Peggy Goldsmith. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband and 2 sons, Mark and Noel. Memories and condolences may be left at Goettschonline.com. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Luke's Unity Point Hospice center in her honor.
