Sheana Kemp, 93, of Anamosa, formerly of Marion and The Villages, FL, died Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Anamosa Care Center.
Sheana McDowell Martin was born September 23, 1929, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Maurice and Jean McDowell Martin. She attended schools in Grayslake and was a member of the Grayslake High School class of 1947. She married her high school sweetheart James Curtis Kemp on August 26, 1950, in Roundlake, IL. He died in January of this year. She took care of the family home and raised their children with the help of her husband.
She loved sports and was very athletic. During World War II, she and a friend tried out for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. She enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs, traveling around the world with Jim and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her life centered around her wonderful family, and many good friends. She was much loved and will be missed forever.
She is survived by her daughters Kris (Mark) Doll and Sandra (Douglas) Wiegand, grandchildren Thomas Warner and Eric (Rachel) Ireland, a great granddaughter Olivia Warner, a brother Maurice (Arlene) Martin, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Sara Ireland, her parents and a brother James Martin.
