Shirley Ferguson, 89, of Marion, formerly of Anamosa, died Friday, May 1, 2026, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at Norwich Cemetery, Martelle. Pastor Mark Ortgies will officiate. Please use the Guestbook to share your thoughts, memories, and condolences with Shirley's family.
Shirley Mae Jaeger was born April 10, 1937, the daughter of Glen and Frances (Soper) Jaeger. She graduated from Martelle High School in the Class of 1954. On July 26, 1959, she married William Ferguson. The couple made their home in Anamosa. Shirley was employed at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids and worked there until the birth of the couple's first child. Following William's retirement, they lived for a short time in Mechanicsville and then moved to Marion in 2005.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anamosa, and later the First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed Shopping, craft shows, antiques and flea markets, flowers, gardening, and working puzzles. Shirley especially enjoyed her trips to the Iowa State Fair, where she always stumped the age guessers who were unable to tell her true age.
Shirley is survived by her sons Bryan and Corey.
She was preceded by her husband of 48 years, William, her parents, and her siblings Willie and Sandy.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials are preferred.
