Scotch Grove Dateline.

Steven (Chop) Laninghan,64, died Sunday January 28, 2024 at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids after a period of declining health.

A Celebration of Steve's life will be held Saturday March 23, 2024, at the Grove in Scotch Grove from 2 until 4.  Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Steve and his family into their care.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Surviving are 2 brothers, Doug and Rick. He was preceded by his parents.

Steven Franklin Laningham was born August 2, 1959 at Manchester, Iowa.  He was the son of George and Joanne McPherran, Laningham.  He attended the West Delaware and Central City Schools. He lived in Prairieburg for a while before moving to Scotch Grove.  Chop did custom planting and harvesting for AsGrow Seed for a number of years and also farmed the family farm at Scotch Grove.

Chop was a member of the Scotch Grove Coon Hunters and the Monticello Eagles Club.
