Obituary

Wayne Hall, 88, of Anamosa, died Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at his home with family at his side.

Wayne Berve Hall was born August 15, 1936, in Monticello, the son of Dillon and Arleta (Berve) Hall. He attended school in Anamosa and graduated from Anamosa High School in the Class of 1955. On June 26, 1955, he married Donna Engelbart. They shared 52 years together until her death in 2007.

He started his career in 1956, working with Willis Zimmerman, at a used car dealership and filling station on Main Street in Anamosa. In the fall of 1963, they became a Chrysler Plymouth dealership for the 1964 model year. People Magazine awarded him the People's Choice Award twice, for being one of the five best Chrysler dealerships in the United States. For 69 years Wayne was a daily presence at his dealership on Main Street in Anamosa.

He is remembered by his children Wayne (Diana), and Jill Brewer, grandchildren Amanda (Matt) Collins, Valery Hall, Alex (Jordann) Hall, Megan Hall, Ben (Nikki) Brewer, and Corey (Dalton) Brewer, 13 great grandchildren, and a brother-in-law Ron Balichek.

In addition to his wife, Wayne was preceded in death by a son Harv, a son-in-law Mark Brewer, a great granddaughter Madison, his parents, siblings Gayelle Bowdish, Judee Johnson, and Ruth Ross, and a sister-in-law Carol Balichek.
