Obituary

William (Bill) Hucker, 87, formerly of Muscatine, died Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness.


Graveside services will be held, 12 noon, Saturday, November 16, 2024, in the Hopkinton Cemetery. Hopkinton, Iowa.  Father Paul Baldwin will officiate at the service.  A luncheon will follow the service.

Surviving are his sister-in-law, Patty Hucker; a niece, Susan Hucker, Hopkinton;  2 nephews, Michael (Kristin) Hucker, Hopkinton, Jon (Janeen) Hucker, Lester Prairie, MN.; a niece-in-law, Andrea Hucker, Hopkinton; 10 great-nieces and nephews, Jeorgie Smith, David (Cydney) Smith, James (Brittany) Hucker, Nicholas (Rylie) Hucker, Matthew, William, Sean, Addison, Lucy and Donavon Hucker; 3 great-great-niece and nephews, Lorraine and Barrett Smith and Dawson Hucker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother D.J.; a nephew Christopher Hucker; a niece Mary Elizabeth Hucker and a great-nephew Andrew Hucker. He is also survived by his close friends from the "Liar's Table" at the Muscatine Hy-Vee, where he had coffee each morning


William George Hucker was born July 2, 1937, at Monticello, Iowa.  He was the son of Don and Gladys Pulver Hucker.  Bill graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1955. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force for 10 years.  He was at bases in the United States, England, and Japan. Following his discharge from the Air Force Bill was employed by IBM.

He serviced office machines in Chicago at first and later made his home in Muscatine where his service territory was Clinton, Burlington and Muscatine. He retired in 1992.  Bill was an avid reader, spending a lot of time at the public library. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, weather observing, and wood carving.
