Obituary

Shirley Gillmore, 70, of Anamosa, died Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Living Center West, Cedar Rapids. Eldon Gillmore, 71, of Anamosa, died Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Anamosa Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Shirley and Eldon, 10:30 Saturday morning, April 24, 2021 at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Springville, IA. Burial will be in St. Isadore Cemetery, Springville. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Mask's must be worn and fitted properly over the nose and mouth at all times to enter the funeral home or church.  Social distancing standards need to be strictly observed.   By visiting Goettschonline.com you may sign the guestbook or share your thoughts, memories and condolences with Shirley and Eldon's family.

Surviving are their 3 children, Lucas (Cari), Tiffin, Josette Gillmore, and Bobbi Gillmore, both of Marion, 4 grandchildren Keegan, Gavin, Rowan and Georgia Gillmore.  Shirley's siblings, Helen Walker, Spencer, Butch (Peggy) Espey, Byron.  Eldon's 3 brothers Gerry and Joe, Springville, and Randy, Phoenix, AZ. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers, Marcus and Joe.   Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law Nancy Gillmore

Shirley Katherine Espey was born December 9, 1950, at Cresco, Iowa.  She was the daughter of Elmer and Edna Jungers, Espey.  Shirley graduated from Spencer High School in 1969 and continued her education at Iowa Lakes Community College.  In 1975 she became employed by Linn County Social Services in Cedar Rapids.     Eldon Ralph Gillmore was born April 14, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Ralph and Genevieve (Carpenter) Gillmore. He attended schools in Springville, Iowa and graduated from Springville High School in 1968.

Shirley Espey married Eldon Gilmore on July 22, 1978, in Marion. Shirley was employed at Finance America until 1986 when she opened a daycare center.  Shirley operated her daycare until she retired in 2015.   She taught CCD at St Isadore Catholic Church for many years.   She loved to crochet in her spare time.  Eldon farmed in the Springville area until he retired in 2018. He was deeply devoted to land and enjoyed tractors, livestock and anything that had to do with farming.
